Sensors
are the eyes and ears of the electronic world. They form the basis of virtually
all electronic devices, from touch and tilt sensors in Iphones to smoke and
gas sensors that protect our homes. Fulcrum
Designs has two Patents pending, specific to sensors used for angling bite alarm,
and has experience with the following sensors:
Accelerometers
- used for measuring speed and position as well as acceleration and vibration.
Gyros
- rotational accelerometers used to monitor roll, pitch and yaw in vehicles.
Capacitive
touch sensors - used to indicate a very light touch on an object rather than
a physical push. Useful for controlling machinery by touch through thick solid
sheets of glass in
hazardous environments.
Multitouch
Frustrated Total Internal Reflection (FTIR) - the basis of forthcoming technology
used by Microsoft to replace the mouse...maybe.
Infra-red
- the first choice for short range, indoor, high speed data transmission and
reception.
Ultrasonic
- Piezo transducers are the basis for sonar and echo sounders.
RF
- direction finding and mobile phone sniffers
Hall
effect - Used to measure the strength and polarity of magnetic fields, the
basis of magnetometers (high sensitivity devices used to detect anomalies
in the earths magnetic field)
